MUSD Superintendent's Newsletter
January 2025
Dear Parents and Guardians,
Welcome to 2025! As with most new years, come new changes! This year we are starting off with a change in the MUSD School Board.

In Trustee Area 1, we say goodbye to Carlos Melendez, who served the district from 9/2021 through 12/2024. Trustee Melendez was instrumental in helping pass our recent Parcel Tax in support of the Arts and Measure O in support of our Facilities. He was one of two liaisons from the District to formally meet with the City Council twice per year to collaborate on topics such as Safe Routes to School, District Facility Projects, City Road Projects and more.

In Trustee Area 3, Yazmin Llamas leaves the MUSD for her newly elected position as Trustee for the Contra Costa County Board of Education. Trustee Llamas has been with the MUSD from 12/22 until 12/24. Yamin also worked hard to pass the Measure O Bond for the District and was an active participant on the District English Learner Advisory Committee, the Curriculum Advisory Committee and the MUSD Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Committee.

We thank both former trustees for their time and devotion to the students and staff of the MUSD.

Moving forward...
Logan Campbell took the Oath of Office on December 16th and will represent Area 1 for the term of December 2024 through November 2028.

Area 3 is currently VACANT and we are searching for a Provisional Candidate to fill the seat. As Trustee Llamas' term would have ended in November of 2026, this position will run through November of 2026, at which time the appointed trustee would have to decide whether to run again or vacate the seat.

If you are interested in applying for this Provisional Appointment or have any questions about applying for this appointment, please call Helen Rossi or Nikki Green at 925-335-5908 or email me at hrossi@martinez.k12.ca.us. Applications are due by 4:00pm on January 17th, 2025.

The application and more information about the position can be found on the MUSD website.

Measure O Passes! Thank You Martinez!
A huge thank you to the Community of Martinez for passing Measure O. These dollars will allow the MUSD create a safe and updated learning environment for our secondary students by repairing and upgrading existing classrooms and school facilities.

We are just beginning the planning stages of our secondary sites and working on a timeline for the sale of bonds and start of projects. We will be providing all information to the School Board as it becomes available and posting it to our MUSD Website, under Business Services, on the Bond webpage.

All flyers to be distributed to students are posted here. Flyers are updated by the 1st and 15th of each month, or if possible when received. Only PTA, ASB and school sponsored events will be distributed at the sites for students to take home.
